This series questions the historical construction of the ideal body by reimagining fragmented classical sculptures with contemporary prosthetic limbs. In ancient Greek culture, the ideal body symbolized perfection, harmony, and completeness, while bodies that deviated from this norm were excluded from representation and, often, from society itself. By integrating prostheses into these classical forms, the work proposes an alternative history: What if disabled bodies had always been part of the ideal? What if difference had been included rather than erased? Here, the prosthesis does not conceal loss but redefines wholeness. It becomes part of the figure’s presence, challenging the viewer’s expectations of beauty, integrity, and value. Positioned between ruin and reconstruction, absence and extension, these hybrid bodies reflect both ancient exclusions and contemporary realities. The work invites viewers to reconsider whether today’s ideals are truly more inclusive—and to question the fragile boundaries that continue to define what is considered complete.
